@elpenaroll First of all you had no right cussing at me, but that just shows your ignorants. Secondly Im not white so what are you talking about? She is not a citizen, so she is not entitled to CITIZEN benefits! And thats the way it is whether you like it or not! It doesn’t matter how long you live somewhere that doesn’t make you a citizen! There is other ways to pay for school and she should have explored those options, Is that clear enough for you to understand?

The girl is an illegal immigrant, you are denied or granted government financial aid based upon your citizen status (as well as other factors). if she gets US citizenship then she can reapply. get over it.

As soon as I read the title, I was on Cenk’s side before I knew whose I was on. The problem isn’t that it’s not fair, it’s simply that this IS fair. Yes I feel bad for her, it sucks, but we can’t reward illegal immigration by handing money out to this girl. If she was a girl who just had a 2.0, would people be outraged? I hate how sometimes they make a person out to be a saint in order to make people feel bad.
My two cents. If they denied her the right to get student loans for college, they probably did her a favor. Many Americans regret the minute they took SL to finance their education to be harassed like criminals for not finding a job making enough money to paid them. Probably she wont get a well paid job with a political science major. Lets face it, colleges in the US are becoming rich kids’ country clubs. Like many poor Americans she will have to settle for community college and part time jobs.

You can’t bend the law for some and not others.
There should be grants available for students who are illegal immigrants that strive for a 4.0 GPA or higher. Obviously, these students have every intention of becoming a valuable members of American society, and it would be a disservice to them as well as to ourselves in not allowing them to attain the higher education they desire.

Also, everyone says illegals do jobs that no american wants to do. Really? so why does america need to give illegals student loans now? I dont think its fair that people just come illegally and others have to wait forever for their citizenship. But never will i blame illegals for the immigration problems, i blame america and it failure to secure the borders and enforce the laws. That Ana woman is an enabler. Sure she is smart and this and that, but she needs to follow the rules, I have family members who got student visas and went throught the proper channels to get here. You shouldnt award people who break the law. There is a difference between “Immigrant” and “illegal Immigrant”! I know some foreign students who did it the right way, they got their visa, took the TOFEL, and have to pay much higher tuition. Then they see illegals getting in state tuition and they say to me, fuck, I should have just snucked across the border. What can you say?

@LolaOrozco I’m sure there were people who hated immigrants before the economy got bad, of course. But can you honestly say that the level of rhetoric and vitriol hasn’t gotten worse? This isn’t just about the kid getting her loan. Illegals never have been eligible for any kind of loan or financial aid/support.

@LolaOrozco PS- they CAN get citizenship; its called an N400 application $260+$50 for fingerprints (proabably a lot less then the going rate for a human smuggler to get you across) Oh ya, one more thing, they CAN’T get citizenship if they have prior convictions in the USA and/or have been deported. Or, they can look into guest worker programs, also a LEGAL way to be here and WORK and PAY TAXES..again, they gotta be squeaky clean to qualify for this, otherwise, back to mexico you go!
