Question by Cawlsing: What percent of students take out loans for college?
I’m planning on not taking out any loans. Right now i’m 18 years old, a senior in high school, and i have $ 16,500 saved. I also only have to pay for a third of my college and my parents pay for the rest. So what percent of students have to take out loans for college. Am i in a better situation that most other people?

Definitely in a better situation than I was in as a senior in HS.
But, that 16,500 will go fast.
A majority of kids going to college take out loans..
its nearly impossible to do so without them for most of us, unless you’re lucky enough to have it paid for.

It really depends on what type of school you go to. Some schools give out such great financial aid that there is little need for loans and other schools have such a high percentage of students from affluent backgrounds that few students need to pay for their own education.
Check out this website as it has tons of info on every school in the US. Look up a school and then under the federal loans tab it will tell you the average amount of loans a student takes out to attend that school:

Also note that the average American student comes out of undergrad w $ 20,000 in student loan debt…so if you plan to have that in about 4 years that’s normal.
